Illustrative operating example
Resolve the constraint before renewing the promise.
A distribution order has a required date, but part of the availability is still unconfirmed.
Fictional situation. No client relationship, completed project, measured outcome or endorsement is implied.
Situation
Sales and fulfilment have different information about what can be delivered. Neither should silently convert a provisional date into a confirmed one.
Working response
The fulfilment owner verifies the constraint and available options. The commercial owner confirms any changed commitment with the customer within agreed authority.
Working outputs
A commitment record, a visible availability exception, an authorised decision and one current version of the handover.
How to review it
Review waiting, repeated checks, changed promises and fulfilment quality separately. Note demand and supply changes before interpreting a trend.
What this does not establish
This fictional example is not delivered client work or evidence of improved turnaround. Product quality, transport safety and statutory duties remain with qualified owners.
